Trustee Project Visits

Writer: Inverclyde Community FundInverclyde Community Fund

From time to time our trustees make visits by prior arrangement with potential and successful applicants to the fund. Eleanor Robertson and  David McCallum recently visited two applicants: both in the East end of Greenock.

Craig Molloy Coaching

Craig Molloy Coaching totally stunned the trustees when they turned up at Lady Octavia pitches. Almost 100 young people were kitted out in sports wear and receiving coaching skills from Craig and his team. The coaching was carried out in a calm and professional manner with snacks available when the event was completed. Several of the children were on a ‘bursary’ provided by Craig, who runs similar events in other parts of Inverclyde. The team are planning an Easter Football camp to attract 120 young people, using former professional footballers. They are looking for support with this project. Craig and his business partner David also have big plans for next year at a site near Gibshill. These plans look terrific and with Craig's enthusiasm, we are sure they will come to fruition.

The Auchmountain Centre is another gem within the East End of Greenock community. Ann Marie and her team run a tight ship with back-to-back community groups which use the premises day and night. The Trustees (or at least one of them) were surprised at the scale of the operation run by the 5-strong team. During our visit, a cooking session had just wound up, while meetings were taking place within the computer suite and other rooms. The main hall was immaculate as was the entire centre, which boast a fully functional laundrette, music and recording room and games hall. The centre is well worth a visit and they do make a great cuppa. Auchmountain is looking for support to provide fees for cooking instruction classes run by professional tutors and in addition, the purchase of utensils and foodstuffs.
